Cold-Pressed Eucalyptus & Nettle Pasture-Raised Lard Soap

Our Cold-Pressed Eucalyptus & Nettle Lard Soap is a truly traditional, small-batch bar crafted from pasture-raised lard, organic essential oils, and botanicals—made the slow way, from pasture to soap mold.

Scented with organic eucalyptus essential oil for a clean, refreshing aroma and naturally colored with nettle powder, this soap delivers a creamy, nourishing lather that gently cleanses without stripping your skin.

How Our Pasture-Raised Lard Soap Is Made

Our soap begins long before it ever reaches the soap pot. At Iron Root Pastures, our hogs are raised on pasture for 10 months, rotationally grazed through forest and open ground, and fed an organic, soy-free, corn-free diet. They’re moved weekly to fresh pasture, allowing them to live as pigs were meant to live.

This slow, intentional farming creates exceptionally clean, nutrient-dense fat—the foundation of an outstanding soap.

After processing, the back fat is ground and slowly rendered in a crockpot with water and salt, allowing it to melt gently into pure lard. The lard is chilled, carefully cleaned, and rendered a second time to remove impurities and ensure the highest-quality soap base possible.

The finished lard is transformed into soap using the traditional cold-process method. The lard is gently warmed, blended with a precisely measured lye solution, and mixed until it reaches a thick, pudding-like consistency. At this stage, organic eucalyptus essential oil and nettle powder are added for scent and natural color.

The soap is poured into molds, set for 24 hours, hand cut into bars, and cured for a full month. This curing process creates a hard, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather and ensures the soap is mild, balanced, and gentle on skin.

Why Lard Soap Is So Good for Your Skin

Lard soap has been trusted for generations (and for good reason). Its fatty acid profile closely mimics the natural oils in healthy human skin, making it deeply nourishing and gentle.

• Deeply Moisturizing
Rich in oleic acid, lard helps lock in moisture while cleansing without leaving skin greasy or tight.

• Gentle for Sensitive Skin
Free from synthetic detergents and harsh additives, lard soap is often well-tolerated by sensitive, dry, or reactive skin types.

• Naturally Nutrient-Dense
Pasture-raised lard contains vitamins A, D, E, and K, supporting skin softness, elasticity, and repair.

• Creamy, Luxurious Lather
Creates a dense, velvety lather that feels conditioning rather than drying.

• Supports Healthy Skin Balance
Because it mimics your skin’s natural sebum, lard soap helps maintain a healthy moisture barrier.

• Simple, Clean, and Traditional
No fillers. No shortcuts. Just real fat, real botanicals, and time-tested methods.

Lard soap isn’t trendy, it’s timeless.
Once you experience the difference, you’ll understand why this traditional soap has been trusted for generations for clean, soft, healthy skin.
